This Book is dedicated to identifying & examining the Laws, policies, regulations, practice and emerging trends that effect Marginal field operations in Nigeria. What makes this 200 page Book unique is that it is the first serious attempt at writing a detailed compendium on the Policy and Practice governing marginal Field operations in the Country. The origins of Marginal Field Policy is traceable to the 1996 Amendment to the Petroleum Act (1969) which introduced a new legal framework for farm out of so called “marginal oil fields” to Nigerian Owned Companies. The first licensing round was conducted in 2003 and a second licensing round was launched in June 2020. The success so far reached in the ongoing Second Marginal field licensing round (2020) is due primarily to the excellent leadership of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Department of Petroleum Resources. They have succeeded in launching a fresh licensing round, were similar attempts failed in 2013.
